Children are vulnerable and rely on adults to help them to feel safe and secure. As an early years and childcare practitioner you have a responsibility to ensure that children are able to grow and develop in a safe and stimulating environment.

The PACEY safeguarding course has been designed to help you fulfil these requirements and ensure you have the confidence to recognise, respond and refer if you should have any concerns.

The course is divided into 3 parts. In the first part you will think about your duty of care and how this links to regulation. Many of the aspects of safeguarding children are generic for example risk assessing and signs and symptoms however how you report will depend on your own local authority. So here we look at how you can identify your own local procedures. Your responsibilities as either a lone worker or an employer are also explored in this section.

The second part takes you through the different types of abuse and how you might recognise any signs. You will know the children in your care very well and will be alert to any issues or concerns. In this part you will learn what actions you need to take if needed.

Part three asks you to consider the procedures you will follow whether you work alone or in a group setting. You may have concerns about a child or the behaviour of a colleague. Finally you will look at policies, having and reviewing a safeguarding policy allows you to clearly demonstrate to parents, colleagues and regulatory bodies that you understand the importance and have a clear procedure to follow.

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what some of our members have said about the course:

I have been guided to some very informative websites and fact sheets which will enable me to implement this training in an effective manner. Specifically in the areas of partnership with parents and whistleblowing.

I am aware of what i need to include in my safeguarding policy. Being a child minder is lone working and i did not think about whistle-blowing policy. Thanks to this training i will now include this.

The online platform was extremely easy to use with clear links to the EYFS and regional requirements.

It was very clear and extremely interesting, besides this, it offers a lot of information but it can be done at one’s own pace. As a chidlminder I found sometimes difficult to attend courses, therefore I am very pleased that Pacey offers these interesting courses.

Been on other child protection courses. This was the best. Learnt so much. Many thanks PACEY.
