This programme leads to a recordable qualification with the NMC. The programme is 26 days in length, some of it may be delivered by distance/blended learning; in addition there are 12 days of supervised practice. The NMC requires 100% attendance and that all programmes for the preparation for independent nurse prescribers (V300) should be completed in one year.

Where local clinical governance restricts nurse prescribing, independent nurse prescribing also encompasses extended and supplementary prescribing. You are assumed to have sufficient knowledge of disease processes, with appropriate assessment and clinical decision-making skills in order to apply prescribing principles to your own area and field of practice. This module contains elements of online learning.
