The course aims to provide an introduction to hyperspectral remote sensing methods, systems for the collection of data at high spectral resolution and unique approaches and algorithms to the processing of such data.
The case is made for the greater use of hyperspectral reflectance data. Taking a bottom-up approach the course will first visit optical modelling, spectral signatures and their collection at the Earth’s surface using instruments and techniques of field spectroscopy, and finally deal with hyperspectral imaging instruments and images.
Practicals will be undertaken in support of these three techniques.
