Credits: 30 credits at Level 7.

Do you want to influence the next generation of healthcare practitioners? Are you an experienced nurse or allied health professional with a passion for communication? If you love what you do and want to pass on your knowledge, this course is for you.

This  programme has been developed  for experienced clinicians from all disciplines who want to move into a practice teacher role. This programme is validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and allows nurses to become qualified practice teachers. On successful completion of the programme you’ll have the NMC requirements to be placed on the local register as a practice teacher and be able to pursue a practice teacher role within your workplace.

What will this course cover?

You’ll develop teaching skills, including how to teach individuals with different learning needs and ways of learning. You’ll also learn how to plan and carry out student assessments. There will be a focus on the role of the practice teacher in leading developments in practice education within an inter-professional context. In the work-based learning module you’ll work with students at specialist and advanced levels in the practice area over the whole academic year.  Support will be provided by workshops and practice visits in semester two.
