The first institution dedicated to research and teaching in the field of tropical medicine, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) has been working to develop and spread knowledge in this field for over 100 years.

LSTM is a registered charity that works globally to reduce the burden of sickness and mortality, particularly in disease-endemic countries. This is done through effective interventions in the world's poorest communities, as well as through the high calibre research that has earned LSTM its worldwide reputation for excellence in the field of tropical medicine.

But the ability to combat diseases such as malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS is also reliant on LSTM's work as a teaching institute. Indeed, LSTM works in partnership with universities, research institutions and health ministries across the globe to teach the next generation of researchers, scientists, doctors and health professionals. Attracting more than 600 students from 68 countries each year, their programmes include:
