The aim of this unique short course is to provide a detailed insight into the scientific information generated through pre-clinical studies and review its potential application in later phases of the clinical evaluation process.
This course is also module 6 of Cranfield University's Executive MSc in Clinical Research.
Course description
Pre-clinical evaluation is the final stage of drug development before the clinical studies begin. The aim of this unique short course is to provide a detailed insight into the scientific information generated through pre-clinical studies and review its potential application in later phases of the clinical evaluation process.
Course topics will include an introduction to pre-clinical research and its place in the drug development process. Delegates will be introduced to a number of techniques which are used to predict safety and efficacy in the clinic, including DMPK and safety studies and the predictive tools currently used. The concept of integrated drug discovery will be discussed alongside recent technological developments and their growing impact on the pre-clinical evaluation process.
