Speaking and understanding the spoken language are very important skills for most people. Our evening classes concentrate on building your confidence in the language and you can expect to be taught in the language you are learning.
Classes will concentrate on the speaking, reading and listening skills. There will be lots of opportunity for role-play and pair work, and audio and visual materials will be used.
By the end of the course you will be able to 'get by' in Italian: take part in simple conversations, ask questions, deal with simple transactions and have a good basic vocabulary.
Topics include - greeting people, talking about yourself and your family, leisure, shopping, ordering a meal, transport and finding your way around, booking accommodation.
Grammar includes - rules of pronunciation and spelling, numbers, nouns and gender, definite and indefinite articles, personal pronouns, use of formal and informal forms of address, the present, simple past and future tenses, reflexive verbs, agreement of adjectives.
Italian Beginners classes run on Wednesday evenings from 7pm - 8.30pm between 16th October and 12th March 2013-2014. Please note that there is no half term break.
All learners are able to use the excellent self-study facilities in the new Library and Learning Centre. Open hours can be checked at https://www.surrey.ac.uk/library
