About this course
We all agree that quality of life of our patients is “everything”. In contrast, as a profession we all pay surprisingly little attention to measuring and monitoring quality of life. Let’s change that!
Our veterinary oath dictates we should do everything in the interests of the welfare of the animal under our care; we are also urged to practice evidence-based medicine. In order to comply with both demands, it is essential we start measuring, documenting and monitoring the quality of life of our patients. Treatment decisions, diagnostic decisions and even euthanasia decisions should be guided by this most important parameter. But if we don’t measure this most important parameter, how can we be sure we are doing the right thing?
