Bristol Business School's new portfolio of short courses is designed to deliver cutting-edge professional development with a practical focus in areas such as leadership, people management, personal skills development and specialist skills to equip individuals to tackle work issues and help move their organisation and career forward. Our short courses are run by experienced academics and consultants who are experts in their field.
The course is taught by Professor Jon Tucker, whose expertise is in corporate finance and financial markets; Professor Peter Howells, who is an expert in monetary economics and finance; Dr Cherif Guermat who is a specialist in empirical finance and Dr Iris Biefang-Frisancho Mariscal with expertise in monetary economics and finance. All tutors are members of the Centre for Global Finance.
This is a hands-on course in asset pricing which combines theory and application. The course introduces the principles of asset valuation, presents basic ideas of portfolio theory and the fundamentals of pricing selected assets such as equities, bonds and options.
Datasets from the web and Datastream are used to illustrate portfolio and pricing theory. EXCEL is used to facilitate the course.
