Target Audience: Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Professionals
Overview: Urological emergencies are extremely common and all healthcare staff will encounter them during clinical practice. This is an intensive 1-day taught course aimed at education all nursing staff and allied healthcare professionals who will be dealing with urological emergencies.
Content: The course is based on interactive case based discussion allowing the candidates to understand the pathophysiology and clinical management of all urological emergencies. Importantly, video presentation of emergency procedures will also be presented and discussed. All candidates will receive a copy of the Course Textbook "Urological Emergencies in Hospital Medicine".
Key Areas: Urinary Retention, Catheterisation (Urethral and Suprapubic Catheter), Haematuria, Renal Colic and Understanding implications of radiological imaging, Nephrostomy Tubes and JJ stents, Testicular Torsion and Scrotal Pain, Andrology Emergencies, Urinary Tract Trauma.
