Our programme is aimed at those who want to be able to teach children who are deaf or have a hearing impairment. We have developed our programme to meet the relevant Training and Development Agency standards so that if you are already a qualified school teacher and wish to, you can achieve qualified teacher of the deaf status.
We welcome applications for our course from other educational professionals who want to know more about the educational development and teaching and learning of deaf and hearing impaired children. We offer our distance education programme at undergraduate level as a BPhil and at postgraduate level as a Postgraduate Diploma or Masters degree. We have a range of modules available including the following: Educational Audiology, Educational Management of Deaf and Hearing Impaired Pupils, The Development of Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children, Language and Communication in Deaf and Hearing Impaired Pupils, Teaching and Learning in Deaf Education. For applicants who wish to obtain the mandatory qualification and qualified teacher of the deaf status there is an additional compulsory Assessed Teaching Placement module that must be completed along wiht the other five module options.
