Is this course for me?
Yes, if you’re a professional new to the field of marketing or an individual with responsibility for marketing as an improtant but relatively small part of your role. The qualification provides practical insight in to the principles and application of marketing at a tactical level and you will gain a Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) award to enhance your career prospects.
What will I be studying?
There are four modules:
• Marketing Essentials
• Assessing the Marketing Environment
• Marketing Information and Research
• Stakeholder marketing
Where do I study?
For flexibility, the course is taught in a weekly evening class at the University’s de Havilland Campus to allow you to fit it around work and other commitments. You will also be required to spend additional time on independent study.
What will I get out of it?
This course is designed to help you understand the function and fundamentals of marketing, how to write and execute a marketing plan, understanding your market, understanding your organisation's marketing environment and how to apply your practical knowledge including collecting and analysing data and establishing a marketing budget.
What are The entry requirements?
You’ll need to have at least one of the following qualifications:
- A minimum of two 'A' Levels
- Any general Bachelor's or Foundation degree
- A CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing (Level 2 or 3)
- An NVQ or SVQ Level 3 (equivalent to NGF Level 3)
- An NVQ or SVQ Level 4 in any other subject (UK – equivalent to NGF Level 4 and above)
- An international baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above) or a pass of the entry test onto Level 4
How much does it cost?
Each unit costs £500, however if you book all four modules at once you will receive a 10% discount, and if you are a member of the University of Hertfordshire Alumni Association or a Business School Corporate Partner, you will receive a 10% discount. Please note these discounts are mutually exclusive.

When does it start?
You can start the course in either January or September.
How long is the course?
9 to 15 months, part time.
