For cycling to perform its most effective role as a mode of transport requires effective planning of land use and transportation to accommodation the bicycle alongside motorised modes.  This course is the first of two modules that provide advanced training for planners and engineers responsible for developing cycling as an integrated form of transport and for the delivery of safe and efficient cycle networks and facilities.  The course is aimed at practising designers of cycle routes and crossing facilities, travel planners and highway engineers wishing to incorporate cycle provision within road improvement schemes.  Ideally, delegates will have had some exposure to current national policy and standards for cycle route provision.
