This 18 week triple module, comprising of 5 days theory in university and the remainder being achieved in the trainee's own area of practice offers the qualified scrub practitioner the opportunity to develop and expand their professional boundaries gaining the underpinning knowledge to support their clinical practice. It enables the scrub practitioner to competently assist the surgeon in relation to recognised duties of the role of the Advanced Scrub Practitioner (ASP) recognising the legal position, accountability and responsibility in accordance with the specific code of conduct.
The triple module supports the theoretical knowledge and supervised clinical practice which should be facilitated by a suitable Mentor and should be achieved with the guidance of a medically qualified Clinical Supervisor.
Students develop their ownportfolio to meet indivdual needs within the competency framework. On successful completion of the triple module the student will be awarded 45 credits at level 6.
