Public and statutory consultation is typically an integral and important part of policy, study or scheme development. It is essential when developing and implementing a strategy for public consultation and stakeholder engagement, that the reasons behind the consultation are clearly understood by ALL, that the right people are consulted and that methods are adopted which are most appropriate to the circumstances.
This course actively involves and guides delegates through the reasons why implementing more than the minimum statutory requirements for consultation might be appropriate, what typically needs to be considered and furthermore the techniques and combinations of techniques which might be applied, when designing and implementing a process for engagement. The course format will be interactive with frequent opportunity for group discussion and also participation in the form of a public exhibition simulation workshop.
This course will be of interest to those responsible for developing policy, those who manage transport/highway/infrastructure projects and designers or clients of schemes where consultation is a pre-requisite.
