Parking management and provision is a key concern to industry professionals and the general public alike. Balancing the apparent need for parking facilities with the often conflicting demand for kerb-side space, is an issue that involves local and central government departments, the Police, private parking management companies, private industry consultants and equipment suppliers. Getting the balance right is a complex issue which typically goes beyond applying strict technical rationale, there are also real human, social, political and economic aspects to be considered.
This course evaluates what might constitute best practice in sustainable and transparent parking scheme and policy development and examines the underlying issues with consideration as to how the challenges might best be met. This course will be of interest to parking project/scheme designers and managers, and those developing overarching policy and programmes.
