FindAUniversity Ltd's Privacy Statement
This statement covers information about advertisers, visitors and/or registered users of the following web sites:
We will use our best efforts to ensure that the information you submit to us remains private, and is used only for the purposes as outlined here. The following reflects our commitment to you.
Information About General Visitors to our Sites
In general, we gather information about all of our users collectively, such as where users are referred from, what areas of the site they visit most frequently and which advertisements generate enquiries. We only use such data in the aggregate. This information helps us determine what areas are beneficial for our users, and how we can improve the website. We may share this information with our advertisers, but only in the aggregate, so that they too may understand how our visitors, collectively, use our sites, so they may create a better overall experience for you, as well.
Registered Postgraduate Forum Users / FindAMasters, FindAnMBA and FindAPhD Newsletter Subscribers
Our Postgraduate Forum is available on PostgraduateForum.com, FindAPhD.com, FindAMasters.com and FindAnMBA.com. Discussions posted on one site may be made available on some or all of the other sites. Information stored about registered Forum users helps us to monitor usage in the aggregate. For security reasons we may record and store the IP address of forum users.
Where a registered user of the Postgraduate Forum or a newsletter subscriber has agreed to receive information via email either from ourselves or from third party clients we will use personal details they have provided (e.g., full name, current status, nationality. etc) in sending such emails.
The Search Facility
Banner advertisements on the search results page may be matched to suit the results of your search. Third party advertising may also be delivered through our sites based on the content of the pages you are visiting.
Information About Advertisers Logged in to our Sites
We record all logins to our sites by registered advertisers. This information is used in aggregate to monitor levels of usage and functionality. It is stored individually so that we remind advertisers of when they last logged in to the site and can trace any fraudulent access.
Any feedback that is submitted through the 'Feedback' areas of any of our sites becomes the property of FindAUniversity Ltd. We may use this feedback, such as success stories, for marketing purposes, or to contact you for further feedback on the site.
Cookies on FindAUniversity Ltd Web Sites
Our sites, like many others, use small files called cookies to help customise your experience.
What are 'cookies'?
'Cookies' are small text files that are stored by the browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or Safari) on your computer or mobile phone. They allow websites to store such things as user preferences. You can think of cookies as providing a "memory" for the website, enabling it to recognise a user and respond appropriately.
A visit to a page on our websites may generate the following types of cookie:
- Navigation cookies
- Anonymous analytics cookies
- Login cookies
- Third party advertising cookies
- Other third party cookies
This type of cookie remembers where you’ve been on our website and what you’ve searched for so the things like pressing the ‘back’ button on your browser will work properly. They are also used to record any courses that you shortlist.
Anonymous analytics cookies:
Every time a user visits our websites, Google Analytics generates an anonymous analytics cookie.
These cookies can tell us whether or not you have visited the site before. Your browser will tell Google Analytics if you have these cookies, and if you don't, it will create a new one. This allows us to count metrics such as the number of unique users we have, how many pages each user visits and how often.
These cookies are not used to identify individuals and are used only to generate statistics.
When you register with our Postgraduate Forum, we set a cookie that recognises whether you are logged in or not. This means that you don’t need to use your username and password every time you want to make a post on the forum.
Third party advertising cookies
Some of the advertisements you see on PostgraduateForum.com are generated by third parties. Some of these third parties use their own anonymous cookies to track how many people have seen a particular ad, or to track how many people have seen it more than once.
The companies that generate these cookies have their own privacy policies, and FindAUniversity Ltd has no access to read or write these cookies. These third party advertising cookies may be used by those third parties to anonymously target advertising to you on other websites, based on your visit to PostgraduateForum.com.
Our Advertising partners include Google Adwords and Guardian Newspapers Ltd. You can get more information about advertising cookies at:
Ad provider: Guardian Newspapers Ltd www.guardian.co.uk/help/privacy-policy#advertising
Ad provider:Google Adwords www.google.com/policies/privacy/ads/
Behavioural Targeting Technology provider: Quantcast www.quantcast.com/privacy
Other third party cookies
On some pages of FindAUniversity Ltd’s websites, third parties may set their own anonymous cookies, for the purposes of tracking the success of their application, or customising the application for you. FindAUniversity Ltd cannot access these cookies.
For example, when you share a course using a social media sharing button on FindAMasters.com, the social network that has created the button will record that you have done this.
How do I turn cookies off?
It is usually possible to stop your browser accepting cookies, or to stop it accepting cookies from a particular website. Be aware that if you turn off cookies you will not be able to log in to the Postgraduate Forum. You may also find that certain navigation options do not function as expected.
Most browsers allow you to change your cookie settings. These are usually found in the 'preferences' or 'options' menu of your web browser. Use the 'Help' option in your browser for more details or try the following links.
- Firefox Cookie settings
- Google Chrome Cookie settings
- Internet Explorer Cookie settings
- Safari & iOS Cookie settings.
If you are primarily concerned about third party cookies generated by advertisers, you can turn these off by going to the Your Online Choices site (turn off Quantcast and Google to stop Behavioural Ad Targeting on PostgraduateForum.com)
You can also visit the trade body representing these advertising platforms for more information: Network Advertising Initative. They have provided a one-stop place that gathers all of the opt-out controls. Please bear in mind that the are many more networks listed on this site than those that we use at FindAUniversity Ltd
Privacy Commitment Changes
If we decide to change our privacy commitment for our web sites, we will post those changes here so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone. If, at any time, you have questions or concerns about our privacy commitment, please feel free to email us at [email protected].
Thank you for using our web sites.
